Cross-country running is a sport in which teams of runners compete to complete a course over open or rough terrain before other teams. It differs from road running or track running principally in the course, which may include grass, mud, woodlands, or water, and in its scoring system. Teams are composed of between five to seven runners. High School Cross Country is generally run over a 5K (5,000 meter or 3.1mile course).
Cross country running is normally scored on a team basis. Points are awarded to individual runners equal to the position in which they cross the finish line (first place gets 1 point, second place gets 2 points, etc). Only the first runners in for a team up to a limit (usually the top five out of seven) are counted towards that team's score.

July 26 - 31: Blue Ridge Running Camp
     Camp has been canceled, there MAY be a virtual camp with various guest speakers or classes
Aug 4: First day of practice at Willowmere Park 6:10 PM to 8 PM.  Bring Physical Form, water, and a large towel to stretch on
Aug 10: First Day of School 
Aug 14: 2-mile time trail at MV 
Aug 29: First XC Meet Great Meadows

Racing uniform consist of white singlet and maroon shorts.  Uniforms will be available to purchase from the coaches after practices begin.

Prior to practice individuals need the following forms completed: PLEASE Make a copy for your files.
   - VHSL Physical Form (Physical completed after May 1, 2020)
   - Athletics and Activities Code of Conduct
